Description:
Sapele has been used in place of South American mahogany, it is more durable than the true mahoganies. Its rich, lustrous, and variable reddish-brown color give it a mahogany-like appearance. Sapele is salmon-colored when first cut, but it matures to a medium to dark red-brown color. It is a popular residential and commercial flooring material. Unlike most mahoganies, Sapele has substantially less movement in service. The wood has a fine and even texture. |
